February Newsletter

Hello everyone,

We wrapped up our month long discussion of community helpers last week with a
discussion of “When I grow up, I want to be ___________ because___________.
The children listed a variety of occupations that they wanted to be when they grew
up including doctor, vet, firefighter, police officer, princess, and bus driver. Below is
a photo of the bulletin board.

In February, we will be investigating balls. We will discuss force and motion, gravity,
velocity, circumference, diameter, size, and many other concepts. We will work with
pulley systems, ramps, catapults, and tubes. It should be a very busy and engaging
study.

Parent-teacher conferences are March 4th and 5th. I have enclosed a pre-conference
form for you to fill out if you have anything specific to discuss with me. Information will
be going home soon on how to sign up for a conference. I look forward to meeting with
you and sharing how your child is doing in our class.

Sara Blake, Literacy Specialist for the district, read Rhyming Dust Bunnies to us today for World Read Aloud Day. The story was very funny! Bob needs to work on his rhyming skills!
