Beginning and End of Theme Webs

The children demonstrated their learning by telling what they knew about winter. They remembered many facts and vocabulary words that we discussed during our study.

February/March Newsletter

Dear Families,

We are wrapping up our study on Winter this week. We have discussed snow crystals,
appropriate clothing for winter weather, arctic animals, snow people, and how animals
survive winter by either hibernating, migrating, or adapting and staying active. We had a
conversation on the first day of our study about what we know about winter. That has been
hanging in our classroom since the beginning of January. On Friday, we will have the same
conversation. We will compare our knowledge webs to see how much we learned in this unit.
Thank you for any donations you made to this theme. They were greatly appreciated.

We will be talking about fairy tales for the months of March and April, specifically The Three
Little Pigs, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and The Billy Goats Gruff. Fairy tales are a great opportunity for the children to practice their retelling and story sequencing skills. We will look
at each story individually and then compare all three to see what elements they have in common.
This is usually a favorite theme for children.

Parent teacher conferences are Tuesday, March 3rd. Appointments are made through Sign
know if you need any help scheduling. I can make appointments for you if needed.

Preschool is participating in the Malletts Bay School Food Drive this week. If you would like
to make a donation, please send it in your child’s backpack and we will add it to our food
shelf box. Thank you.

Winter picnic

We will be talking about snow people for the next two weeks. The children will have the opportunity to create their own snow people at the art table as well as decorate these life size snow people in the dramatic play area. They will then be able to host a polar bear tea party.
