Robots!!

The children have been working very hard to reuse everyday materials and turn them into robots. They are all similar and yet unique just like each of the kids.

It"s Not A Box

Boxes can be so many things. In this picture, the children are pretending to have a house and a boat.

Trashy Town

We read Trashy Town by Andrea Zimmerman and David Clemesha and made trash trucks because not everything can be reused or recycled.

Reusing Boxes

These children made a police car and then a car for a family out of old mailing boxes.

Magnetic or Not Magnetic

The children explored different recycling materials and magnets to see which materials are magnetic and which are not magnetic. They then sorted them on the T-chart.

Reusing Cans

We reused tin cans for a beanbag toss game. The children added number tags to each can after these pictures were taken so they could describe which can their beanbag landed in. They are working on eye-hand coordination, motor skills, number identification, turn taking, and color identification skills while playing this game.

Recycling Theme Song Lyrics

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (Sung to The More We Get Together)
Reduce, reuse, recycle
Recycle, recycle
Reduce, reuse, recycle
It’s easy to do
Cause your trash
And my trash
Make up way
Too much trash
Reduce, reuse, recycle
It’s easy to do.

We Recycle (Sung to Frere Jacques)
We recycle!
We recycle!
Yes, we do!
Yes, we do!
Caring for our planet,
Caring for our planet.
Is easy to do!
Is easy to do!

Earth Day Song (sung to Twinkle, Twinkle)
Earth day, Earth day,
Comes once a year.
But we should make our
Message clear.
Love and clean our Earth
Each day.
Make that plan a plan to stay.
Earth day, Earth day,
Comes once a year.
Love and care for our

Earth so dear.

April Newsletter

Hello everyone!

Happy spring! I think it has finally arrived! I am pleased to report that our playground was dry
and snow free. As of Friday, there was no standing water. That is major progress from where
we were a few weeks ago. It is a preschool teacher’s favorite time of year when we can put
snow pants and boots away for the year!

We have started our study of recycling, reducing, and reusing.I started the conversation
by talking about how everything we do either makes the Earth a happier or sadder place
to live and how important it is to do all we can to protect the Earth. The children have been
sorting items into different categories- reduce, reuse, recycle. They then have been sorting
recycling materials into glass, metal, plastic or paper in the dramatic play area. They are
quite good at it.  It will culminate with an Earth Day activity on Friday 4/19. Rhonda from CSWD
will be a guest speaker on Tuesday, 4/16 to discuss the correct way to recycle. We will make
robots out of your donated recycling materials next week. Thank you for everything you sent in.

We are enrolling children for next school year. If you know of anyone whose child is 3 or 4
years old and looking for a preschool experience, please have them contact me at 802-264-5894

We will be having pajama day and watching a short video on recycling on Friday, April 19th.
If anyone is willing to donate small water bottles or a bag of popcorn, I would appreciate it.
Thank you.
