Thank you letter from the Ronald McDonald House

Dear children,

Hi! My name is Mike and I am the house dog for Ronald McDonald House in Burlington.

I have a big job at Ronald McDonald House. I work hard at helping people feel better
and making them smile.

Sometimes I will dress up in my favorite costume, Super Dog! What's your favorite
way to make someone smile?

I wanted you to know that the humans I work with received all the wonderful
things you and your school collected for the Ronald McDonald House and for
the guests that need to stay with us. We all thought your "get well" cards were
beautiful. You are great artists!

I am sending you some pictures of me. I hope they make you smile because
thinking of others is a kind thing to do and you made all of us at Ronald McDonald
House smile with your kindness.

Your Friend,

Mike 🐾

Dying Fabric

As part of our clothing unit, we explored how our clothing becomes the color it is. We read the book Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes by James Dean and Eric Litwin. Pete's shoes change color as he steps in strawberries, blueberries and mud. We extended the activity by having the children take pieces of white cotton fabric and dye them using coffee grounds, beet juice, mashed up grapes, and spinach.

November Song Lyrics

Greeting: What’s the first sound in your name?
Sung to London Bridges

What’s the first sound in your name?
In your name?
In your name?
What’s the first sound in your name?
Can you say it?

Baa, Baa, Black Sheep
Baa, baa, black sheep,
Have you any wool?
Yes, sir, yes, sir,
Three bags full;
One for the master,
And one for the dame,
And one for the little boy
Who lives down the lane.

This is the Way We Wash Our Clothes
This is the way we wash our clothes
Wash our clothes
Wash our clothes
This is the way we wash our clothes
So early in the morning

This is the way we iron our clothes
Iron our clothes
Iron our clothes
This is the way we iron our clothes
So early in the morning

This is the way we mend our clothes
Mend our clothes
Mend our clothes
This is the way we mend our clothes
So early in the morning

This is the way we get dressed up,
Get dressed up,
Get dressed up
This is the way we get dressed up,
So early in the morning

The Laundry Room

The children will practice sorting, washing, drying, and putting away laundry during our study of clothes. They will also match socks and fold towels. These are great life skills that they can help you with at home!
