Newsletter April 9, 2018

4/9/18

Hello everyone,

We are moving on to our last fairytales theme, The Three Billy Goats Gruff. Your children
have had a great time reenacting the fairytales and are amazingly accurate in their
retelling. In addition to working on sequencing and retelling, we will discuss expected and
unexpected behavior and sharing during the next two weeks. I have attached the words to
the original songs that we will be singing.

I sent out an email on Friday regarding a case of lice in our classroom. Here is a link to the
Mayo Clinic’s webpage for what to look for.

Here is the information for Kindergarten registration and screening again:
Your child is eligible for kindergarten next year if they will be 5 years old on or before
August 31, 2018. Union Memorial School (264-5959) and Porters Point School (264-5920) are
both accepting appointments for kindergarten screening. Registration for kindergarten is also
open.

Registration: www.csdvt.org   press the gold button at the top of the page "new student
registration" then press the "kindergarten" button. Continue on in the 2018-2019 school year.

Parent Information Night: May 3, 2018 from 6:30-7:30 pm Porters Point School and Union
Memorial School.

Screenings: Screenings are by appointment only. Please call to make an appointment. During the screening your
child will spend two hours with a number of professionals, including a kindergarten teacher, participating in a
simulated classroom setting with a dozen or so other children who will also be starting kindergarten in the fall.
They will be asked to identify items such as letters, numbers, sounds, etc.

The Three Goats Song (Sung to the tune of If you’re Happy)
If you’re hungry and you know it, cross the bridge.
Trip Trap (stomp feet)
If you’re hungry and you know it, cross the bridge.
Trip Trap
If you’re hungry and you know, then your tummy sure will know it.
If you’re hungry and you know it, cross the bridge.
Trip Trap

If you see the angry Troll, tell him to wait.
Hold On! (put hand out to stop)
If you see the angry Troll, tell him to wait.
Hold On!
Tell the Troll to wait to eat cause your brother has more meat.
If you see the angry Troll, tell him to wait.
Hold On!

If you see the angry Troll, tell him to wait.
You’ll See! (Shake finger)
If you see the angry Troll, tell him to wait.
You’ll see!
Tell the Troll about your brother, he has meat that’s like no other.
If you see the angry Troll tell him to wait.
You’ll see!

If you’re hungry and you know it, cross the bridge.
Trip Trap (stomp feet)
If you’re hungry and you know it, cross the bridge.
Trip Trap
The Troll went home a’cryin’ 'cause the Big Goat sent him flyin’
So if you’re hungry and you know it, cross the bridge!
Yum! Yum! (rub tummy)

See all their beds,
See all their chairs.

The Mama cooked in a big brown pot.
The Papa’s porridge was much too hot.
