September Songs and Poems

We Are The Preschoolers- call and response

We are the preschoolers

We are the preschoolers

The mighty, mighty, preschoolers

The mighty, mighty, preschoolers

And everywhere we go

And everywhere we go

People want to know

People want to know

Who we are

Who we are

So we tell them

So we tell them

We are the preschoolers

We are the preschoolers

The mighty, mighty, preschoolers

The mighty, mighty, preschoolers

I am Special

I am special

I am special

If you look

You will see

Someone very special

Someone very special

That  is me

That is me

You are special

You are special

If you look

You will see

Someone very special

Someone very special

That  is you

That is you

All About Me

Ten little fingers

Ten little toes

Two little ears

And one little nose

Two little eyes

That shine so bright

Two little lips

To kiss goodnight

Hail, hail the gang's all here

Hail, hail the gang's all here

Never mind the weather

As long as we're together

Hail, hail the gang's all here

School is much more fun

When we're with everyone

It's Sad To Have A Day Without…

It's Sad To Have A Day Without...

It's Sad To Have A Day Without...

Because he/she's our friend

And we'll miss them

The Goodbye Song-We repeat this lyric 3x with increasing speed and one time very slowly

We wave goodbye like this

We wave goodbye like this

We clap our hands for all our friends

And wave goodbye like this

Welcome to week two of preschool!

Your children did a wonderful job during our first week together. They are getting familiar with our daily routines and learning classroom expectations. I am amazed at how quickly they are learning the routines for lunch and getting ready to go home. Those are complex, multi-step routines that require so much effort. We created class rules "Be safe. Be respectful. Be responsible. Have fun!" We read The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn. If you are unfamiliar with this book, I highly recommend it. It is a beautiful story about Chester Raccoon's first day at school and how he says goodbye to his mother. We made Kissing Hand handprints, played two different counting/number games featuring Chester Raccoon,  made self portraits, and much more.

This week we will continue to explore our classroom and how to take care of it and each other. I spend several weeks building the culture of our classroom. I find that investing the time during these first several weeks of school pays off throughout the school year. We will be reading Have You Filled A Bucket Today and Fill A Bucket both by Carol McCloud and will make a book on how we can fill each other's buckets. We will share our book with you at the Author's Day in December.

This will be one of the only paper newsletters I will be sending home this year. Information will be posted on my blog. Please follow it at https://msnancysblogmbs.blogspot.com/ . If you do not have internet access, please let me know.

Your children are amazing! Thank you so much for sharing them with us this year. Ms. Sue and I have enjoyed every minute with them.

End Of The Year Newsletter

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to the second to last week of school. The pictures above show you how I am
counting down to the end of the school year and what the kids think they are good at.
This week and next, we will be talking about endings and beginnings. We looked at
pictures of many of the activities we did this year and drew "My favorite part of pre-
school" pictures. I will send those home next week. We also made a list of what we can
do or are good at. The kids were very proud of their accomplishments. We will discuss
who is going to kindergarten and who is not going to kindergarten. I have pictures of the
kindergarten classrooms and playgrounds at UMS and PPS. We will compare how pre-
school is the same and different from kindergarten. Next week, we will write a letter to
next year’s class telling them all the important things they need to know about preschool.
There is a sing along scheduled with Mrs. Benay on Tuesday afternoon and the popsicle
party on Friday, June 15th at 2:00. It will be a fun and busy time.

I want to take a minute and thank you for sharing your children with me this year. It has
been an honor to spend my afternoons with them. They are an incredible group of caring
and capable people. I feel like I have learned from them as much as I have taught them.
I hope you have a wonderful summer filled with lots of outside and family time.

Nancy

End of Year Celebration

Good Morning Preschool Families

I would like to invite you and your family to an end of year gathering.  We will hold the gathering rain or shine.  The plan is to be outside on the playground and a few stations outside around the playground.  If it is raining the event will take place in the classroom...hopefully the weather cooperates with us.

When:   Friday June 15th
Time:    2:00
Where:  Malletts Bay School playground
Why:  Have fun playing, enjoying time with friends, and saying goodbye to friends for the summer

I hope you can make it - Please let me know how many people you think will be attending from your family so I make sure we have enough popsicles.

Thank you

Nancy
